The Ecology of Eden, Chapter 25 The Tree of Life (Bri Carter)

In chapter 25 of the "Ecology of Eden” Evan Eisenberg discusses how Eden is affected by artificial forms of life. The most prominent example he uses in his writing is the practice of using biotechnology to alter or create life. In this way humans can feel like they are outside of life formation themselves because they can so heavily alter the work around them. Chapter 25 suggests that humans are not outside of nature even when dramatically reshaping it. It shows that humans are deeply embedded in nature because of their comprehensive knowledge of it. Mostly I think that Chapter 25 shows that while one can alter nature they would first have to learn about it. I also think that no matter how heavily we manufacture ecosystems humans are always going to rely on the same things from nature; food, water, air, shelter, and sunlight.
