Ecotherapy (Caitlin McClafferty)

For my first outside reading, I decided to read about Eco therapy. The article talks about the origin of ether and how it was founded by Theodore Roszak. Ego therapy is commonly used as a way for people to feel more grounded and mindful. People use this form of therapy to connect themselves to the environment, and some therapists found that Eco therapy alone can solve people’s problems completely while most therapists incorporated this into other different kinds of therapy. The article talked about how if we take care of nature we are taking care of ourselves as we are a part of an ecosystem. The proof behind this therapy is that it has been studied many times and participants who were assigned to walk in nature for 40 minutes. A day came back saying they felt less angry and were able to regulate their emotions better. The article talks about how a research study showed that many people did not need to even physically be in nature, and that even looking out a window helped them work through their emotions and anxieties. Eco therapy can be as simple as exercising outside, going on a walk, nature, meditations, or even just looking out the window. I find myself doing this often, and whenever I do, I always feel more grounded.
